MESP email mentioning Upromise

What is Upromise?

“Upromise offers a range of savings options that are flexible and can be tailored to fit individual needs. Even better, Upromise will automatically transfer your rewards into your linked financial account.” On their website, Upromise says “Upromise has saved members over $1 billion for life’s milestones.” Which is cool, when a billion means something for once. You can use Upromise to save for retirement, general savings, or our focus today supplementing your 529 plan. MESP sent us an an email on joining Upromise. That piqued our curiosity to find out more and how it works.

How Upromise works

Three steps:

  • Link a Financial Account
  • Earn cash back rewards via polls, surveys, uploading receipts, and select financial actions
  • Upromise deposits the rewards into the linked accounts monthly

How to earn $30.29 easily

Two steps.

  • Verify your email and earn $5.29 (you can see the number 529 is heavily featured)
  • If you link your 529 plan, you earn another $25
  • It took us only a few minutes to verify our email and link our 529 plan
  • If you investigate and think Upromise can help you, we would appreciate if you used our referral link
  • https://www.upromise.com/?rb=149327508
  • Each person you refer and meets criteria can earn you up to $25

What’s the catch?

No modern corporation gives away free money without reason. Upromise wants your data to sell to their partner organizations who want your business. So do Meta, Amazon, Twitter, and Google. At least you can provide the data you want and know how much you’ll get paid for it, unlike with the big tech companies.

Final thoughts

San Francisco pioneered making sure every child has money for college. California soon followed. Instead of having a travel card earning you points or a cash rewards card, Upromise says you can earn rewards via partners and add that to your 529 plan. Upromise is similar to other rewards market places, with various categories such as Entertainment, Finance, Health and Beauty to earn from.

If every child was able to get a boost with automatic savings for college, the world would be a better place. The dream would be for every state and federal government to set aside college money for children when they are born. Upromise is not automatic, and it’s private, and what they do with your data I need to find out, but it is a start. If you know of other services like Upromise, let us know in the comments. We are curious if this is an American phenomenon or other countries have similar programs. We were able to earn π * 10 in rewards in our first day.

Update: A friend sent me this link. https://www.sitejabber.com/reviews/upromise.com Their advice: In general I am very wary of linking bank/investment account to any portal.

Review the site and partners carefully.
